Let’s make… doily babygros

Fancy creating a one-of-a-kind babygro? All it takes is a doily, some fabric dye and a spare afternoon. Here’s how…

You’ll need:

  • Paper doilies
  • A bodysuit or T-shirt
  • A piece of card between fabric layers to stop paint seeping through
  • A stippling brush
  • A glue stick
  • Some fabric dye
  • Newspaper to protect your work surface

Step 1

Apply the glue stick to one side of your chosen doily. The trick to success with the fabric paint is to make sure that it is well glued down!

Step 2

Open the fabric paint and apply to the brush. Then dab the brush on and off the doily template making sure that all the holes get filled with paint. When it’s done it should look something like this…

Step 3

Once the paint has been applied to the entire doily, carefully peel the doily away to reveal your creation!

Step 4

Your customised babygro should look something like this! Leave to dry as per your fabric dye’s instructions. They often need to be ironed to seal the colour.
