Mama Designs Diet Coke Love this

Further adventures of mum inventor Keira

At the end of June I had such an amazing week I wanted to write and share it with you. Admittedly not all weeks are so great but this was one that makes me very grateful for my wonderful family, friends and my business.

I went to Britmums Live, a blogging conference where about 500 mummy bloggers gather together to meet, learn new stuff, see old blogging friends and make new ones, hear some amazing speakers, watch the awards and much, much more. There were some amazing inspirational people with some really sad stories including Katie Piper who was one of the keynote speakers and such a brave inspiring lady.

Needless to say I came home full of ideas and enthusiasm and ready to work. It was hard being away from the little ones but lovely to come home to them and lots of cuddles and they appreciated the bag of swag (aka the Britmums goody bag!) Another highlight of the weekend was coming home with my very own Mama Designs Diet coke, yay!

Then on Tuesday I met up with the people who keep me sane in this industry, my “baby products buddies”. I am very lucky to have a great little network of mum inventors, who I consider to be good friends, there are six of us including me (Cara from Snooze Shade, Emily from Bundle Bean, Louise from Safe Dreams, Di from BuggyTug and Lara from HamsterBags) and we travelled from all over the UK to meet up.

It wasn’t all work, work, work as we got to have a few glasses of wine and make use of the spa facilities (well it would be rude not to!) but we were discussing work for most of the time and I loved it! Time like this is so valuable especially as we all work from home and don’t necessarily have a big team (or any team) around us. We have had some fantastic ideas so watch this space…

So what else has been happening? I have been speaking to distributors in Asia, Australia and the US, so fingers very tightly crossed that something good will come of some of that. These things always take a long time though. I am actually going to the US in October on a trade mission that I won through the Guardian newspaper in a business competition they ran last year. It’s a wonderful opportunity and I’ll get to meet some of the distributors. The trade mission is to Las Vegas so I’m feeling a bit guilty that my husband isn’t getting to go and am having to downplay my excitement (sorry if you’re reading this Dan!)

Today I sent off a parcel of gifts to a celebrity mum for her baby. I can’t tell you who yet until I know if I can but if I can, you will be the first to know, I promise! Also to my surprise and delight I spotted Mamascarf in the Kiddicare TV ad and my pink heart Babasac in a gorgeous Kiddicare nursery set on their Pinterest board. Thanks Kiddicare! (Ed: you’re welcome Keira!)
