Photos & highlights from the winner of our Mark Warner blogger holiday giveaway

In September we ran a special blogger holiday giveaway to the beautiful Kos resort of Lakitira. Our lucky winner Laura has just returned with some wonderful memories and photos to match.

When I entered the Kiddicare and Mark Warner blogger prize draw I never actually believed that I would win (read Laura’s winning post here). I really enjoyed talking about our summer and remembering all the fun I had with the girls whilst they were off school.

When I got the amazing news that we would be getting off to Kos as a family I decided that I should have a look at what a Mark Warner holiday entailed. With free childcare for the girls and the chance to try our hands at some water sports I was really excited. The flights, transfers and check in were seamless and it really kept my stress levels down. I hate travelling and not knowing where I am going but as soon as we landed the Mark Warner staff were on hand to direct us to our coach, help with the bags and get us settled ready for the short journey to Lakitira resorts.

The resort itself was exactly as I imagined a Greek resort should be with whitewashed buildings, beautiful landscaped gardens and a fantastic beach, in fact two fantastic beaches. Lakitira has a separate family beach that is lovely and shallow and allows the kids to be able to wade out quite far before they are out of their depth, whereas the other beach is for the water sports and for launching the boats. We took a walk along the coast one day and Lakitira definitely had the best beach we came across. Lakitira resort has three swimming pools, an adult only pool near the tennis courts, a children’s paddle pool and the main pool. The water was very cold even though the days were lovely and warm but the kids didn’t seem to mind and by the end of the week we were even in the big pool.

swimming

The sea was unbelievably warm and clear and we had lots of fun spotting the different fish that were swimming around our feet. We even managed to spot a small flat fish that was very good at camouflage. A Mark Warner holiday is a perfect fit for our family, with half day childcare it allowed me and hubby to relax each morning and the evening film club meant we could eat a nice dinner together in peace. All of the Mark Warner staff were amazing, approachable and they loved their jobs which made you feel more relaxed, especially when leaving the kids in childcare. The food quality was brilliant and a great variety of food was available at each meal time which kept me happy and my tummy full.

The water sports available were great and the girls loved windsurfing and kayaking. The accommodation was clean, spacious and perfect for a week away from it all and the weather was amazing. What more could I ask for? We have not been abroad on holiday for four years as I believed the children were too young, having been on a Mark Warner holiday I can’t wait to go on another one.

  1. Wow what a fabulous prize: I’ve never left my children, who are similar ages to yours, on holiday before. I imagine that must be very liberating?!

  2. Wow those photos are stunning and make me want to visit right away. I have entered the competition as you never know your luck and it would be a dream come true to take my family on a Mark Warner holiday plus reading Laura’s account just makes me want it even more, it sounds the perfect holiday

  3. Oh. My. Word. That looks fabulous! What a beautiful place! I love that the beach is as lovely as the residences. We are pretty sporty, loving our watersports as much as our landsports and I sometimes find the beach/waterfront isn’t quite the equal to the rest of the place, which can be disappointing. And I love to hear the food was good as well. Sometimes when you go away–especially as a family, you just want everything in ONE place. We love trying new things and being adventurous in all sorts of ways, but sometimes it’s nice to know everything is right there on site. I’ve never tried a Mark Warner holiday, this was a great review!

  4. The complex looks stunning and the sunset is just amazing. It sounds like you had an unforgettable time

  5. Stunning photographs. So glad you had such a wonderful holiday. It really looks amazing!

  6. Ohh the family beach sounds great, you lucky lady Laura. Mich x

  7. Looks just wonderful. We’ve never left the kids before, but they’re the perfect age now to really take advantage of all the activities Mark Warner have to offer so it’s definitely on our list.
