Lily Allen tweets through pregnancy

Singer-songwriter Lily Allen has been busy on her Twitter account posting updates about her pregnancy.

The 26-year-old recently tweeted that she was attending her baby shower and was a “bit scared” by the prospect.

While Lily stopped short of posting details of her party, it seems that celebrity baby showers are becoming increasingly extravagant, with famous mothers-to-be keen to share the details.

In May this year, ahead of baby Harper Seven’s arrival, Victoria Beckham revealed via Twitter that she had enjoyed “such a lovely day” before posting that “baby showers are so much fun”.

Most women get to enjoy baby showers only with the arrival of their first born, but in the world of celebrity it seems that there is no limit to the number of parties a mother can have.

For the famous, it can also be a chance to invite celebrity friends and Mrs Beckham got to share her event with actress Eva Longoria, among others.

A recent picture appeared on celebrity websites of Tori Spelling enjoying her baby shower with fellow actress Denise Richards.

It seems that the sky’s the limit when it comes to the budget for such events as well.

People magazine reported that the gifts bestowed on Victoria included a Quinny Buzz Special Edition pink pram and a five foot giraffe!

The culture that we live in of information sharing via websites such as Twitter and Facebook, means that we all seem to have greater insight into the lives, and pregnancies, of the famous, our friends and family.

Lily Allen posted a message that appeared to be referring to the fact that she was experiencing Braxton Hicks.

Strange perhaps that she made the decision to share such a personal part of pregnancy with her Twitter followers.

Many go further than that though. In 2009, the co-founder of Twitter, Evan Williams’ wife Sara took to Twitter to let the world – or at least her followers – know that her waters had broken.

No doubt Lilly Allen fans will be watching her Twitter account to see if she is willing and able to share details of her labour online!
